Old Boys’ Union of Holy Cross College & WISE

From its reinstatement in the year of 2012, the Old Boys’ Union (OBU) has taken action and developed various aspects of the College Infrastructure and the Holy Cross Spirit. The Swimming Pool Complex which was a long term requirement for the school was completed and expended over Rs.20 Million was funded and supported by the OBU. In addition, the next committee appointed, installed the Digital Scoreboard for the College Ground and executed construction of the pavilion.

The OBU and the school was always strengthened by the Past Students, Parents and various well-wishers from around the world. Within the short period of time from the initiation of the OBU, these three major events were possible by the immense unconditional support received by various organizations and entities. The Pavilion itself was a result of a singular donation from Crusader Dhanuka Cooray.

The past two committees were focused on creating facilities and assets which enshrines the Holy Cross image in the general public and was the immediate requirement at the time. Now the focus has been directed to create a function that enables the students of Holy Cross College to showcase their educational skills and extra-curricular abilities.

As a result the WISE program is being introduced.

WISE – Winners in Sports and Education

Holy Cross College has produced numerous national and international level athletes and notable men in various forms of industries and fields. In the recent past Crusader Jayantha Silva, Ranga Wimalawansa, Nayana Prasad were few of the many notable Crusaders who have taken the Holy Cross name across the national boarders and Currently Sujan Perera is the current captain of the Sri Lanka Football.

The WISE program is determined to produce more outstanding athletes and professionals by funding and grooming young Crusaders with the potential and desire to do so.

The WISE program offers Career Guidance Programs to senior students enhancing their knowledge on Career opportunities and possible further education opportunities. In addition, a separate program will be conducted for students who wish to establish a collective of vocational training skill set. Furthermore, this program is focusing on creating a Job Bank for students compiling various corporates with the support of many Past students of the institution.

The WISE program has a separately delegated plan for all the currently active sports and games in the school. The program will form a committee for every sport consisting a mix of teachers, parents and Old Boys which will actively pursue improvements in sporting equipment and training programs etc.

Our beloved school has been nourished by your support in all our previous attempts which were successful. The OBU sincerely requests your kind support for the new initiative.

Let’s Make ‘WISE’ a Success! ! !
