Rs. 11.35 Million Stunning Donations for the proposed Swimming Pool 

 

A historical fund raising event for the Proposed Swimming Pool Project for Holy Cross College Kalutara was held at Tangerine Beach Hotel, Kalutara on last 22nd evening with the presence of large number of Old boys and well-wishers. A recoded amount of Rs 11.35 million donations and sponsorships were collected at this colorful event organized by the executive committee of Old Boys Union of Holy Cross College Kalutara.


Hon. Minister Kumara Welgama, Minister of Transport, has participated for the event as the chief guest. During his speech, he has highlighted the necessity of swimming pools to the Kalutara area for the wellbeing of the young generation. He also do not forget to mentioned about the swimming pool facilities provided for other schools in Kalutara area with the assistance of present government under the concept of “ Mahinda Chinthana”


Sri Lanka Mobitel Telecom announced their Rs 4,000,000 worth platinum Sponsorship for the “College Walk 2013” and “Musical Night” which are the two events to be organized by the Old Boys’ Union of Holy Cross College Kalutara for the aid of proposed 25m long, six lane swimming pool. Access Engineering announced their Rs 500,000 worth Silver Sponsorship while Minuki Group and ZTE announced their Rs 250,00 worth Co- Sponsorships at this event.


Rs. 1,000,000 donation made by the old boys of the Holy Cross College, who are staying at Australia was one of the key donation which helped organizers to go beyond the target amount of ten million. Among the individual donations received on that day, donations made by the teachers of the school were an inspiring motivational factor to the organizers.


An awarding of appreciation souvenirs for the  donors who made the donations on the first donation program which collected Rs. 3.25 million on 5th May 2013, also taken place on the same event.


The Rector of the Holy Cross College Kalutara, Rev. Fr. Dr. Camillus Fernando has announced their plan to held the ground breaking ceremony before the 21st of July 2013 and the project manager Mr. Mahendra Perera, Vice president of the OBU of Holy Cross College Kalutra, has mentioned their plan to complete the project within 8 months.
