Foundation stone laying ceremony for the proposed Swimming Pool

The Ground breaking ceremony of the proposed swimming pool for the Holy Cross College, Kalutara was made on 17th July 2013 with the participation of large number of school children, old boys, staff members and well-wishers. An eminent old boy of Holy Cross College, Rev. Bishop Norbert Andradi, Bishop of Kurunagala, was participated as the Chief Guest to the occasion.The ceremony started with special prayer service headed by the Rev.Bishop Andradi while executive committee members of the Old Boys’ Union of Holy Cross College placed the foundation stones with the blessing of all the participants. All the priests of the College staff, Parish priest of Kalutara South also placed the foundation stones at the ceremony. Rev. Fr. Dr. Camillus Fernando, the Rector of the Holy Cross College, Kalutara highlighted the importance of unity among all the parties connected to the school to sail this project towards success. Also he appreciated the acceptance of the invitation by Rev. Bishop Andradi to participate to the event as the Chief Guest with his busy schedules. Also he mentioned about the guidance made by the Rev. Bishop Andradi, when he was a student at seminary. Rev. Bishop Andradi appreciated the decision to construct the swimming pool for the College and extended his blessings for the project. He also mentioned about the importance of sports like swimming to mold well-disciplined generation to the society.

The proposed well equipped 25 m long, 6 lane swimming pool to be completed during the first quarter of the year 2014 under the consultation of Architects and Engineers who studied in Holy Cross College Kalutara.
